Troopers say a woman climbed onto the roof of her car after it ended up in a pond off U.S. 264.
The accident happened around 9:20 a.m., west of Farmville.
The car was some 30 feet out in the pond and the woman sitting on the roof. Someone in a canoe paddled out to rescue the woman, who has been identified as 27-year-old Jamela Dunbar of Greenville.
Dunbar was not hurt.
The right lane of Highway 264 westbound was blocked by rescue vehicles.
