Woman Airlifted After Hitting Propane Tanker

A woman was airlifted to a Wilmington hospital after her pickup truck hit a propane tanker head on Monday morning.

Trooper J.D. Kirk says the crash happened on Bannermans Mill Road in Onslow County around 10:00 a.m.

Kirk says the woman in the pickup crossed the center line, and the two vehicles collided in a curve. He says the woman was not wearing a seat-belt.

The tanker from Tidewater Energy ended up in a ditch.

Trooper Kirk says they're still waiting to hear from the woman as to what happened, as she was in and out of consciousness. He says charges are pending.
