Winds Fan Controlled Burn, Two Sheds Lost

A controlled burn got out of control Friday afternoon, destroying two sheds in the process.

It happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Old Cherry Point Road, outside of New Bern.

Authorities say the homeowner was conducting the controlled burn when the wind picked up and caught the sheds on fire.

Three fire departments and state forestry crews took less than an hour to bring the fire under control. No one was hurt in the fire.

Julie: That's kind of like asking how is it driving your car if you have an accident and crash. Somehow I don't think the winds picking up and taking over was part of the plan.

How is it a controlled burn if winds got a hold of it?

That must have been the explosion we heard just after lunch. It was followed by a parade of emergency vehicles down Old Cherry Point Road. Glad to hear the only injuries were to one man's pride.

How dumb can people be. We've been told for the last few days (on the news) NOT to BURN anything because of strong winds. Again, how dumb.
