RECOVERY: What Bertie County Needs & Doesn't Need

Bertie County has updated its list of needed relief supplies.

The county, which lost 12 people in Saturday's storms, says it is very thankful for the overwhelming show of support from around the state and country. But they no longer need clothes, ice, water or food.

Donations are being accepted at Colerain Baptist Church, 202 North Main Street, Colerain, NC 27924 and Askewville Assembly of God, 105 Askewville Bryant Street, Askewville. Large donations should be forwarded to Colerain Baptist Church to be inventoried and distributed to all distribution locations.

Recovery sites say the following items are in demand right now:

Trash Bags
Containers for Personal Effects (plastic totes or cardboard containers, etc.)
Tarps
Rakes
Shovels
First Aid Supplies
Hand sanitizer
Diapers
Baby Wipes
Baby Formula & Food
Feminine Hygiene Products
Pillows and Pillow Cases
Personal Hygiene items (razors, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, etc.)
Bug Spray
Paper Plates
Plastic Cups
Plastic Silverware
Pet Food
Paper Towels
Can drinks
Sunscreen

Wish this list was posted earlier today before we drove up there. The stuff we brought was not really needed anymore but they did take it.

Didn't see this listed but I bet, especially after this mess, folks will probably also need a good handful of ibuprophen (probably didn't spell that right but you know what I mean.)

"Neighbors Helping Neighbors"....Plans are coming together to fill a tractor trailer on Saturday, 4-23-11 located at the Williamston Wal-Mart. We are striving to fill the trailer with all the items listed on the WITN website "What Bertie County Needs". The list of items needed will be available thru a handout at the entrance of the parking lot. Being the sister county we are honored to be able to help...an yes, Martin County is so richly blessed to have escaped the severness of these storms!! Hope to see you Saturday..We know we can do this with the help of neighbors. We can all be a heros by filling up the truck. God Bless!

There will be 3 drop off points in Plymouth that I know of. Colony Tire on Hwy 64, Big Al's Garage on Monroe St.and Southern Hospitality Salon on Main St. All donations will be delivered to Colerain at least every 2 days. Thank you in advance for helping to care for the citizens of Bertie County. You never know when it will be your turn. And please pray for them daily because God can and will sustain them if we petition for them in faith.
