Fayetteville -- The top seed West Craven girls high school basketball team lost for the first time this season, 71-50 to 2nd seed Rocky Mount at Eastern Regional Tournament.
The matchup featured two of the best girls players in the state in West Craven's sophomore guard Jamie Cherry who scored 20 points and Rocky Mount's junior guard J'Kyra Brown who poured in a game high 31 points.
Rocky Mount blew the game open in the fourth period by outscoring West Craven 21-4.
Cherry is verbally committed to play her college basketball at the University of North Carolina while Brown is verbally committed to play at East Carolina.
Rocky Mount advances to the Eastern Regional finals Saturday at noon where they will play either Chapel Hill or Williams.
West Craven's season comes to an end with a 29-1 record.
