Water Outage For Some In Onslow County

Life will get a little more complicated for residents near a road construction project Thursday. A water outage is planned for most of the daylight hours.

ONWASA says residents on Drummer Kellum Road from Ramsey Road to the elevated water storage tank and those on Jennifer Drive will experience a water outage on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The DOT has closed down part of Drummer Kellum Road near Ramsey Road for a construction project through March 18.

Once the water comes back on, ONWASA will implement a boil water
advisory for those affected by the water outage. Residents can expect at least 24 hours to go by before the boil notice is lifted as officials await test results. They say the boil advisory is completely precautionary.

When a boil water advisory is issued, ONWASA encourages residents to boil all water used for human consumption at a rolling boil for 1 to 3 minutes. This includes water used for drinking,
cooking, brushing teeth, or washing hands. There is no need to boil water for showering or bathing.
