Washington Fire Department crews say about 10 to 15 customers and employees evacuated the Pizza Hut on 15th Street near Carolina Avenue just before 9:00 p.m. Wednesday after smoke creeped into the restaurant from a small fire outside between the restaurant and the Hair Gallery and Tanning business. Captain Flowers with Station 2 says someone dropped a cigarette outside the building which houses both businesses and caught a baseboard on fire which smoldered and created smoke.

Firefighters say no one was injured and the restaurant closed for the night and is expected to reopen Thursday.
