A Washington man is jail after deputies say he raped a girl who is under the age of 16.
Robert Figgs is charged with statutory rape of a person who is 13, 14, or 15 years old by a defendant who is at least six years older than the victim.
Beaufort County deputies say back in August they learned of a possible sexual assault on Highway 102, west of Chocowinity.
The 29-year-old Figgs was arrested Tuesday at the jail, where he is already locked up on an unrelated charge. His bond was set at $40,000.
