A young man who was rushed to the hospital Saturday after he was rescued from the water at Havens Gardens in Washington died four days later.

Washington police, fire and EMS crews responded to the Havens Gardens boat ramp Saturday afternoon.

Police tell WITN News 19-year-old Jacob Hall was taking part in a church group event at Havens Gardens when he and two others went swimming.

Police say the three young men were jumping off the boat docks and swimming when Hall went under and didn't come up.

Multiple people jumped in the water and began searching for Hall. Police say Hall was found a few minutes later.

Hall's obituary states he passed away Wednesday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Police indicated Hall was part of a visiting church group from near Fayetteville, but the obituary lists his address as Washington.

I miss him and loved hime so much and never got the chance to tell him . I love you Jacob and may you rest in peace in Gods arms. An angel.

To the 5 people frantically searching for this child upon my arrival. I came up towards the end just prior to you finding the body. I helped you get him on the ramp and did CPR until EMS left the scene. After he left for the hospital, I went up to you guys and said, If this kid lives he will have you guys to thank. Well he did live 4 more days and it gave his family a chance to spend some time with him before he went to meet his savior. Once again, you guys did an awesome job and you should hold your heads high.

This is sad news to hear the young man did not make it. Praying for his family. Now for all of you who were concerned, that is great that you wanted to know if you were there. For those who wrote all the assumptions of the outcome shame on you. This is why WITN does not publish information until they know what the outcome is the best they can. Are they always right? NO! it is better not to print anything than to print incorrect information. Let us all pray for this young mans family. And many thanks to the people who tried to save his life. You are all angels.

he did not pass the same day!!! He passed 4 days later. I could have been a family member reading that he passed away the same day when he really didn't!!!

I am an eye-witness and one of many volunteers searching frantically for the boy in the water. When pulled from the water (a 12 foot deep hole caused by prop wash at the end of the ramp) the 19 year old had no respiration and appeared to have no pulse. CPR was immediately begun by a woman (who was dining at Backwater Jacks) and EMS crews arrived just seconds after that. The victim was immediately transported to Beaufort County Hospital. It is estimated the young man had been underwater perhaps 5 to 6 minutes. It is now a full four days later, and there is no further information. There must be some extreme family issue preventing the hospital and authorities from releasing any updates. With the HIPAA laws, the hospital cannot make any statement without family consent. I can only assume (and want to believe) that the boy is still alive, because his death would be a matter of public record.

I was there too. A boy definately drown I hope he survived for all involved. The people who were searching for him should receive credit if that is the case. When I arrived a guy was giving CPR and a lady came up who said she was a doctor who assited. They were actually both doing cpr on the way to the ems truck. I sure hope it is good news and that is why we have not heard anything.
