City council candidates in Washington are poised and prepared to take community questions at a forum Thursday night.

The Beaufort County Republican Club is sponsoring the candidate forum set for 6:45 p.m. at the Apollo Restaurant in downtown Washington.

Organizers said residents will have a chance to hear from Larry Beeman, Councilman Richard Brooks, Ty Carter, Lloyd May, Councilman Doug Mercer, Councilman Bobby Robertson and Councilman William Pitt.

Each candidate will be allotted a three minute opening statement, and a two minute closing statement. Sandwiched between those statements, each candidate will answer five questions.

Event planners said those wishing to make an evening out of the forum can get to the restaurant and order dinner by 6 p.m., in time to eat before the restaurant closes for the event.
