Southwesterly winds will continue to pump warm and moist air into the area Tuesday. A cold front will arrive during the afternoon and evening causing a few showers and thunderstorms although total rainfall amounts should be light in most locations. The threat for showers will end Tuesday night as the front pushes offshore. Drier and somewhat cooler air will move into eastern North Carolina late Tuesday night and Wednesday. Highs Tuesday will be in the 70s to around 80 degrees then cool to the upper 60s on Wednesday under mostly sunny skies.
