Wachovia, a Wells Fargo company, is donating $100,000 to the Eastern North Carolina chapter of the American Red Cross to help tornado victims.
The announcement was made Thursday afternoon.
According to a news release, "the donation will help meet immediate needs of the victims, providing food, shelter, emotional support, clean up kits and other assistance for families and communities in the aftermath of devastating tornadoes in eastern North Carolina."
“While the impact of this disaster is still in the beginning stages, our hearts go out to our neighbors, customers and team members as they all work to rebuild their lives,” said Jack Clayton, regional president of Triangle East Community Banking for Wells Fargo. “The Red Cross and its volunteers are working together to meet the needs of our community and we are truly appreciative of their efforts.”
The company also announced some of its 3,800 team members in Eastern Carolina will volunteer to help with the clean-up efforts.
