Heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms were moving through portions of Eastern Carolina Thursday night. The heaviest rainfall was located in southeastern North Carolina late Thursday evening. The area of rain should move northward overnight and encompass most of the area along and east of Highway 17. Rainfall in excess of 1 inch is possible by sunrise, especially east of Highway 17.
Winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour may accompany some of the showers and thunderstorms.
While some communities will miss the showers overnight, widespread showers are likely to develop on Friday.
