Volunteer Firefighter Accused Of Port-A-Potty Fires

A volunteer firefighter is one of two people accused of setting fires to several port-a-potties outside of Fayetteville, including one that damaged a church.

Edward Williams of Stedman was charged with multiple counts of burning personal property and burning of a church. Deputies say he is a volunteer firefighter with the Stedman Fire Department.

Also charged was 20-year-old Harold Starling, Jr.

Cumberland County deputies say the two were arrested last night after detectives saw them approaching another port-a-potty with diesel fuel, cardboard and lighters. Deputies say Williams admitted they were responsible for the fires.

The most recent fire was set early Tuesday morning at Faith Builders Christian Center. It melted the vinyl siding at one end of the church.

The two men are being held on $12,000 bonds.

Pyromania is BY DEFINITION a type of sociopathic behavior... Utter disregard for the law, social conventions, other people's property, and the lives and safety of other people--sounds like a sociopath to me... This "firefighter" is a "defective unit". Sad, so very sad...

I know that he shouldn't have done this, but it is funny. It sounds like something a group of young men would do as a prank.

Some folks see the end of society in this incident. Phooey. Some volunteer firefighter somewhere is always burning something, and it should be no surprise that the firefighting job would attract the occasional fire lover. Hardly a sociopath, such pyromaniacs should be dealt with, but, again, such incidents are relatively common and are not a harbinger of Armageddon.

When sociopaths get elected into high office, it should be no surprise--being egocentric and amoral is sort of part of the job description of politicians. When the rare, occasional sociopath gets to be a police officer, that's not too surprising either--control-freak criminals will gravitate toward jobs that give them power over other people. But when we've got sociopaths in the Fire Department, we've got some BIG issues in our society... The end, is indeed, near...

A congressmen (not to even reference his name) sends pictures of his private parts to a woman he met on-line. A firefighter is caught burning down portable toilets. Folks you can't make this stuff up. The news is more entertaining than sitcoms.

What is amazing to me is that some idiot thinks that all the problems we are facing is somehow the newly elected republicans in office for the first time in a century. Cant possibly be the fault of the people who have been running the country and state bankrupt for a hundred years. Can't possibly be that.
