Vinyl Scam Suspects Wanted; Agent Recognizes Them On WITN

Wayne County deputies say a South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division agent was watching WITN-TV when he recognized three men who scammed an elderly woman earlier this month.

After the pictures were broadcast on WITN, the SLED senior agent was able to identify the three as members of an Irish Travelers community in Aiken, SC. Deputies now have warrants out for Jimmy Riley, Tommy Mack and Michael O'Hara.

Deputies say the trio came to the 86-year-old's Rosewood area home on the pretext that they had opened a new vinyl business. Once inside one of the man managed to steal a safe while the woman was distracted.

If anyone knows their whereabouts, they should contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 919-731-1481 or Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.

I would really like to see a 3 strikes law in NC. I would be happy to add 10.00 to my taxes to built more prisons to keep scum like this off the streets

to wayne res, Often old people will reveal almost anything to total strangers. Sadly, many are just wanting someone to talk to. I see it often. She may have told them about the money.
  • by wayne res Location: wayne co on Apr 21, 2011 at 01:49 PM did they know where to look for the safe/brief case full of money? Something still does not seem right with this.

It seems to me that until we make our jails a place that criminals do not want to go we will have these kind of trash-balls praying on the innocent! I would like to see the criminals have to do HARD time, ie: clean the roads, ditches etc. Right now the criminals have it made in jail with color tv, weight rooms, basketball courts and free time....Put them to work!!!!

I think that you are right....but should we put them to work or have the judge say, at sentencing: "and if anyone wants this person to eat, that is saturday, and bring something for his guard"

Scammers are always around, these guys are just pros. Most scammers just do substandard work for that lowball price and get away with it.

They should be rewarded with a fishing trip to the Gulf Stream, and not brought back.

That would be too comfortable. Send them to Greenland and let them play golf in the dark. Let them find their own food and water. The Gulf Stream would be a vacation.

AH, the Irish Travelers...oh yeah, I remember living around a very large community of them. They were always coming around trying to "repair" your roof, or plumbing...oh, and by the way, they want all the money in advance to buy parts, lol. They're a tight community so the only way to find them will be to go wait at their home, they'll show up eventually. You know what pikey's say...just nick it!
