Multiple vehicles were damaged after deputies say two Beaufort men threw tiny silver balls at them.
Carteret County deputies arrested Aaron Penny and Justin Williams in the case. Penny is facing seven counts of simple assault and six counts of damage to property while Williams was charged with four counts each of simple assault and damage to property.
Deputies say during the week of March 14th the two are accused of driving on Merrimon Road, between North River and South River, and throwing the balls at passing motorists. They were similar to small pin balls, according to investigators.
The balls struck and broke windshields, and caused other damage. One victim was able to turn around and get the suspect's license plate. When deputies searched Penny's vehicle they found the same type of steel balls inside.
The two were released on $3,000 bond and have a May 19th court date.
