Police are looking for vandals responsible for knocking over 26 tombstones all in one cemetery in Rocky Mount.
Pineview Cemetery officials say a few weeks ago they noticed six tombstones knocked down, then this past week they noticed 20 more.
Cemetery officials say this vandalism can be expensive. It costs $75.00 to $100.00 to put the tombstones back up, and that's not including the cost of the stone itself which can be thousands of dollars.
Police say they are going to step up patrols in the area and they hope to catch the vandals.
It is against the law to vandalize or tamper with a headstone, so the vandals could be charged and possibly arrested.
