Cleanup Underway After Vandals Hit Pitt County High School

Cleanup is underway at a Pitt County high school after vandals struck over the weekend.

Some $30,000 in damage happened late Saturday night or early Sunday morning at Ayden-Grifton High School.

Vandals broke in and spray painted the football field and softball complex, including the dugout and press box. Equipment was stolen and tires were slashed on most of their maintenance equipment.

Monday crews were busy covering up the graffiti with fresh coats of paint. They hope to have the football field ready for games later this week.

So far no arrests have been made in the vandalism.

The principal is an idiot. The school has been out of control ever since he arrived from his last school he ran in the ground (yes, you North Pitt). The students know he is not present and missed more days than he was there last year. When a school lacks leadership, this is exactly what happens. Wake up Mr. Baker and do your job. How many teachers have you lost this year? Duh Dr. Reep.

If you don’t like how they do their job, then why don’t you apply for their position or job next time. Being in a position where you have to make decisions dealing with money, not everyone will like your decisions all the time.

As a matter of fact, Ayden-Grifton will be severely struggling with how to recover from this. Furthermore, you want to comment on the actions of the Athletic Director and school board, the Athletic Director, School Board, and coaches do have the right to decide how and when the money should be spent, and where to go from here.

It suprises me that WITN would even pick up this story. We can be #1 in the conference for an entire season, and not be televised until were in the 2nd round of state playoffs.

You want to comment on the amount of money needed for the damages? I cannot even believe that that would be what you would like to get up here and comment about? The money is an issue, but not the most important one. The most important thing is finding out who did this, and supporting those who are affected from this.

Did you graduate? Spelling, grammar, all really bad. And that little comment about putting gang "persons" in jail for little crimees they did not do. So gang members in jail is a bad thing? I don't care if a gang member cuts down a tree, all of them need to be in jail. And societies fault? So gangs, or anyone else for that matter, are not responsible for their own actions? So you not being able to spell and use proper grammar is because society? Really? "Maybe these men be mad for police...." How do you know they are men? Do you know something no one else does? So it's perfectly alright for people to deface public and private property becasue they are mad? I DON'T CARE!! The judicial system needs to stop being politically correct and PUNISH people!! Being PC is bringing this country down.

I hope they catch the low-lifes that did this. What ever age the people are--put them in jail for a while. After they clean up this mess themselves.

My Grandson is a student and football player at AG. There is a donation on the way to help with repairs of the damages. Not for glory, but to let these young people know that there are people that care. I am sure there are others that take pride that will help also. When we back our children, it goes to bed with them at night that someone really cares about them and their tomorrow. Do you ever remember going to bed while thinking "No one cares." The people that are reponsible for the damages may have.
