Unemployment Rates Increase In All Eastern NC Counties

The Employment Security Commission of North Carolina has released the latest county-by-county unemployment rates, and the news is not good in Eastern Carolina. The November unemployment rate for for every county in the East increased over the month before.

More than a dozen counties in Eastern Carolina now have unemployment rates above ten percent. Those counties are:
Beaufort - 10.7%
Bertie - 11.2%
Chowan - 10.4%
Dare - 10.7%
Edgecombe - 14.6%
Halifax - 12.3%
Lenoir - 10.4%
Martin - 10.6%
Nash - 11.8%
Northampton - 11.7%
Washington - 11.2%
Wilson - 11.7%

The highest unemployment rate in the state is in the extreme western edge of North Carolina. Graham County's November unemployment rate reached 18.6 percent. The lowest rate is in the Triangle area. Orange County's ovember unemployment rate is 5.9 percent.
