An Eastern Carolina county has the state's lowest unemployment rate for April. That according to new county figures released today.
Currituck County's unemployment rate was 5.6% for April. The Employment Security Commission says 73 counties saw unemployment rates drop in April, while just 10 saw increases and another 17 remained unchanged.
Several coastal counties here in the East saw significant drops in the jobless figures. In Dare County unemployment went down 4.7%, while in Hyde the rate dropped 2.5% from March. On the other end, Wilson County experienced a .6% jump in unemployment.
The county with the highest unemployment in April was Scotland County at 15.8%.
