Unemployment Down In Most Eastern N.C. Counties

The latest data on unemployment for North Carolina is out, and almost all of the area's counties have a lower unemployment rate for January 2011 than they did in January 2010.

The five exceptions are Bertie, Camden, Dare, Northampton and Onslow counties. Those counties have a higher unemployment rate compared to a year ago.

Onslow County's January unemployment rate is 9%, up slightly from the 8.7% in January 2010. Pitt County's unemployment rate was back above the 10% mark in January 2011, after falling below that for the last five months of 2010. Craven County's latest unemployment rate was 10.1%.
