USTA State Tournament In Greenville

More than 400 youth athletes between the ages of 6-18 will compete in the USTA League Jr. Team Tennis State Championships this weekend in Greenville, N.C. The field of 60 teams, who all qualified for the tournament through local league play, will attempt to secure one of seven bids to Sectionals in Mobile, Ala. Aug. 19-21.

The tournament takes place July 15-17 at five different locations in Greenville, including East Carolina University and River Birch Tennis Center. The age divisions range anywhere from 8 & Under to the 18 & Under division. The divisions consist of beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. All intermediate and advanced level state champions will move on to Sectionals.

Entertainment and activities for the weekend will also include team spirit competition, cornhole and Wii console gaming.

Saturday: 12U Beginner: 11am at Rose High School
12U Intermediate: 3:30am at Rose High School
14U Beginner: 2pm at Elm Street Park
14U Intermediate: 1pm Rose High School
14U Advanced: 2pm at Evans Park
18U Intermediate: 11am at East Carolina University
18U Advanced: 1:30pm at East Carolina University

Sunday: 10U Intermediate: 1:30pm at River Birch Tennis Center
12U Advanced: 8am at Evans Park
