UNC's Brian Goodwin To Transfer

According to a release by the University of North Carolina, sophomore outfielder Brian Goodwin will transfer to Miami-Dade Community College for the 2011 season.

The Rocky Mount, N.C., native started all 60 games last year, batted .291 and was a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America.

Goodwin was Selected in the 17th round (523rd overall) in the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Chicago White Sox but elected to attend North Carolina.

    Maybe he is having trouble maintaining his grades and is transferring to pull them up. UNC can't take a chance of playing someone who could be academically inelligble for the Spring sport.

    It's pretty weird for somebody to earn All-American status and then suddenly want to transfer, and to a community college no less! Makes you wonder....how deep does that tutor scandal really go? Sounds like he's jumping ship before the fit hits the shan. Reminds me of Florida State a few years ago when nearly all of their sports programs (including swimming!) were found to have violated NCAA academic rules by cheating, fake grades, etc. I can't wait to see how this plays out!
