Two Teens Found Dead After Fishing Trip

Two teenagers are dead after rescuers found their bodies this morning in a tributary of a Halifax County lake.

Deputies identify the two as Trelvin Daniels, 18, and Tashun Tillery, 17, both from Roanoke Rapids. Their bodies were found near the Thelma Bridge, which crosses Deep Creek and the Roanoke Rapids Lake.

The two went fishing for catfish Tuesday morning and were reported missing by their family around midnight. The bodies were found around 7:30 a.m. by the Littleton Fire Department dive team.

Deputies found their vehicle parked near the bridge along with a fishing pole, bucket and car keys under the bridge.

Deputies say the deaths remain under investigation, but there appears to be no foul play.

No one will know the true facts on the drowning of the two teens, but sounds like they might have gone in to swim, one got in trouble; the other went to help and they both drown that way, or maybe they were fishing on the bank, one slipped in and the other tried to help; neither able to swim good enough to rescue the other. Any way it happened, it is just a sad story and two lives cut short. Prayers for the families and friends.

Regards to the families. Words can not express the sorrow I feel for you in the dreadful time. My daughter passed away two years ago and it breaks my heart when I hear of yet another parent who loses their child. You will be in my heart and prayers. May God bring you peace in your time of need.
