Two Pirates Named To All-C-USA Teams

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina senior Darrius Morrow and junior Miguel Paul were each named All-Conference USA as voted upon by the league's 12 head coaches and a select media panel. Paul received second-team honors, while Morrow was voted third-team. This is the first time in which the Pirates had multiple members selected to one of three all-conference teams.

Paul started 28 of 29 games he participated in this season and averaged 15.0 points and a league-best 5.8 assists per game. In addition to leading Conference USA in assists, he finished the regular season third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0), fourth in 3-point field goals made (2.2), sixth in scoring and 3-point field goal percentage (.366) as well as eighth in steals (1.3) and free throw percentage (.767). Paul scored double figures in 24 games, topping the 20-point plateau eight times. He also handed out 165 assists, fifth-highest single-season total in school history. Paul is the second player in ECU history to be named to the All-Conference USA second-team.

Morrow started all 29 games for the Pirates this season, while he averaged 13.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He ranked fifth in Conference USA in field goal percentage (.548), ninth in blocked shots (1.1), 12th in scoring (13.9) and 15th in rebounding (6.2). Morrow became the fourth leading scorer in school history, while moving into seventh-place on the rebounding list with 1,490 points and 773 rebounds. A four-year starter, Morrow will finish his career as the school's all-time leader in free throws made, free throw attempts and minutes played. He is the third player in Pirate lore to earn All-Conference USA third team honors.

Players from five different schools are represented on the 2011-12 All-Conference USA men's basketball first-team, featuring one senior and four underclassmen. Comprising the All-Conference USA first-team were Memphis sophomore guard Will Barton, UCF junior forward Keith Clanton, Tulsa junior guard Jordan Clarkson, UAB senior Forward Cameron Moore and Tulane freshman guard Ricky Tarrant.

Paul is joined on the second team by classmate Arsalan Kazemi of Rice. Sophomores Tarik Black of Memphis, DeAndre Kane of Marshall and Neil Watson of Southern Miss round out the second-team selections.
Morrow is one of three seniors that are part of the all-conference third unit, including Marshall guard Damier Pitts and SMU forward Robert Nyakundi, a repeat selection from a year ago, along with Southern Miss junior forward Jonathan Mills and Memphis sophomore guard Chris Crawford.

East Carolina will open the 2012 Conference USA tournament on Wednesday against Rice at 1 p.m. EST at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn.
