Two Inmates Escape, Later Apprehended

Two inmates escaped from the Wayne County Detention Center Friday night after attacking an officer and stealing his keys according to authorities. The inmates were later apprehended.

Authorities say two inmates had managed to rig their cell door so it would appear to be shut. Then as Officer Albert Anders was making his rounds the two inmates attacked his head and body. The two inmates then locked him in their cell and took his keys and radio.

The inmates in the area were able to create enough noise to get detention officer to check on Anders; meanwhile the inmates were able to leave the Jail by using the Officer’s keys.

The two inmates were later located and apprehended several blocks away.

Michael Minard is currently being held in Wayne County Detention Center on Assault by strangulation; second degree kidnapping; assault on a female; communicating threats charges.

And Inmate Tracey Deaver is being held on statutory rape (3 counts); felony larceny and injury to personal property charges.

The incident is under investigation and both inmates will face additional charges including escape.

Officer Anders was transported to the Wayne Memorial Hospital, was treated and released.

I MYSELF WONDER HOW THEY WERE ABLE TO DO WHAT THEY DID AND STILL BE ABLE TO ESCAPE. I HAVE FAITH IN THE WAYNE COUNTY JAIL SYSTEM AND THE JAILERS. I AM GLAD THAT OTHER INMATES WERE AWARE OF WHAT WAS GOING ON AND TRIED TO HELP. SOMETIMES THESE "ANONYMOUS" PEOPLE ARE TO IGNORATE TO REALIZE WHAT DETENTION OFFICERS GO THROUGH ON A DAILY BASIS.

Ha - push the easy button on escaping jail in GHETTOSBORO. Shows how bad the jail system and jailers are! These two dummies got picked up that fast! Wake up jailers and eat your doughnuts BEFORE work.

to Anonymous: why do looks matter? just b/c he's cute he could've been somebody? it doesn't matter how someone looks. It matters how they act. They acted like thugs and should stay in jail for a long time.

it's a shame such a cute kid (on the right) has ruined his life so early. With looks like that, he could have been very successful. sad
