Thousands of dollars worth of tires were stolen from a store in Goldsboro.

Police say the Firestone store on North Berkeley Boulevard in Goldsboro was broken into and more than $12,000 in tires were stolen November 26th. The next day an officer spotted the stolen property and it was recovered and returned to the business. After an investigation, a warrant was issued for Tracey Grady of Mount Olive.

Grady was arrested December 18th and charged with breaking and entering and larceny and placed in the Wayne County Jail with a $5,000 bond.

bond is not a punishment.it is a guarantee to show up for court. At this point even though probable cause exists for him to be charged,he is still presumed innocent until his trial.Several factors come into setting a bond.if the person has ties to the area, criminal record, cooperation with arresting officer, employment, etc.

Math Problem: point well taken. But you are right-this is the legal system. Besides, it's only 10% of the bond posted by that guy in Greenville who shot his favorite bully in the back. What a bargain!

When I first read the heading, I thought they were talking about a set of tires worth $12000. When I read further it made more since.

Let's see...$12,000 in stolen merchandise....bond set at $5000....Hummm....I'm having a problem with the logic of the system. Oh, what am I thinking? This is the legal system. Not math class.
