Thousands Lost Power In Eastern Carolina

Some Progress Energy customers in the east were left without power Thursday night due to the strong storms.

At one point, according to the company's website, there are 1,480 Wayne county residents in the dark at this time. There are 214 customers also in the dark in Duplin county, 21 customers in Greene county, and a handful in Lenoir county.

In Martin county Dominion Electric Company reported about about 3, 311 customers without power.
