Police say parents helped capture one of two teens who is accused of firing a weapon near a playground full of children.
Greenville police have charged 17-year-old old Jaquan Lane with carrying a concealed weapon, resist, obstruct, & delay of an officer, and possession of a weapon by a minor while 16-year-old Deon Daniels was arrested and charged with resist, obstruct, & delay of an officer.
Police say around 6:40 p.m. Thursday an officer heard gunshots in the area of Hopkins Park. Residents pointed out a vehicle which was trying to leave at a high rate of speed. As the officer caught up to the car, the two inside jumped out. Police say another responding officer caught Lane, while a group of parents who live in the area tackled Daniels and held him for police.
Lane, according to police, was found with a quantity of .22 caliber ammo when he was captured, while they found a .22 revolver hidden in a shoe that he lost during the chase.
