Teens Accused In School Vandalism

Three teens are in trouble with the law after police say they vandalized a middle school last week. One of them had just graduated from the middle school and lives in the neighborhood.

Beaufort police have obtained juvenile petitions charging the 13, 14 and 15 year olds with having a weapon on school campus, felony breaking and entering and larceny and injury to real property.

Police say ten windows and two doors at Beaufort Middle School were damaged last Thursday. The windows were shot with a BB gun, while the glass in the doors was shattered. A laptop from the school's computer lab was also stolen.

School surveillance cameras caught the teens, with the recent graduate identified. Police were able to ID the other two teens as well.

The school's laptop, valued at $1187, was recovered from a pond near Professional Park Drive, which is behind the school.

"old man" u need to chill out with using the word thugs... A "thug" is a person who repedeatly commits crims and just doesnt make one mistake in their life. If they where "thugs" they would make a life of crime and not one mistake as a child, so choose your words carefully... And if they do end up as "thugs" i appoligise but if not forget you, because u cant make assumptions for one mistakes. And im friends with them so please dont assume.

They all just graduated from the school. One of those children is my nephew,Some times we all do things in life we wish we could take back.My nephew is truly very sorry for what he has done! He has written a letter of apology that he is taking to the principal tomorrow. He has always been a follower not a leader.Regardless of what people may now think. He is a good, smart and loving person.

I agree with Grace. Put the teens to work and make them pay for the damages they caused. They learn nothing if mama and daddy bail them out. Lessons learned now may help prevent future crimes.

Have to agree with both taxman and Grace. Parents probably will claim they aren't paying for what the kids did, so put them to work to make things right! Believe me, word will spread thru the neighborhood of what vandals have to do as punishment...should deter future acts!!

Middle school age vandals ? Go after the parents to pay-up. If they can't invest the time in their own kids behavior, then have them invest their money in cleaning-up after them !!

Make the kids work at the school over the summer cleaning, painting, doing whatever necessary to repay any debt that may have to be paid for by the county. If this was my child, I would be at the school and personally signing my child up to do this. Parents can't control everything their children do, but they sure can promote doing the right thing if their child makes a mistake.

I think scrubbing the floor of the boys bathroom with a toothbrush would be a gross enough job!
