Teens Accused In Gang-Related Jailhouse Brawl

Three teenagers already in a Kinston jail could face more charges for what lawmen are calling a gang-related jailhouse brawl.

The Kinston Free Press says the three teens may face more charges now for beating another inmate until he was unconscious Sunday. The teenagers accused of fighting are Devine Slade, Jerrell Pridgen and Corrionte Turnage.

Pridgen, 18, was arrested in March for the murders of 17-year-old Rasheed Jones and 21-year-old Tyrone Collins.

Devine Slade, 17, has been behind bars since June for the murder of Deputy Warren "Sneak" Lewis.

Corrionte Turnage, 19, faces drugs and weapons charges. In 2010, he was convicted of robbery.

The paper says that inmate Allen Lewis, 29, was treated and released from the hospital Sunday. He has asked lawmen not to charge the three for the assault.

Lewis is facing his fourth felony firearms possession charge. He has also been convicted of theft three times.

Three stupid pieces of garbage that have already leeched off taxpayers, already in jail (two for murder) and they pull a fool stunt like this. If this isn't a reason for tougher laws and punishments for these malcontents , I don't know what is. Animals in the dog pound act better than this. It's about time for our high and mighty General Assembly who swore to change NC, to really make a difference and put the hammer down on human garbage such as this. It seems to have gotten worse since the new folks came in. I for one haven't seen any improvement.

Why don't they just send these 3 worthless pucks to the electric chair. They obviously don't care for human life. They even want to harm another jail inmate, meaning the jail is not safe with those 3 punks. Nowhere in the world would be safe with them and they are still living off of our tax money. They shouldn't even breathe the same air that we upstanding citizens breathe. These scumbags must go cause they will have no future after all they have been doing. They are not the only ones either.

Why would the LCSO put all three charged in the same cell block? Is it so they could all tell the same story after practicing over and over for a few years. They should have been in different cell blocks so they could talk to each other at all, much less gang up and assault someone. These guys have proved on the streets they were unpredictable, did they think they would act any different in jail. No womder we can get convictions,we house them in the samr block so their stories will match, and thats a HUGE deadl in court.

THE LENOIR COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY IS A 112 BED FACILITY THAT HOUSES APRX 150 INMATES. THE FACILITY DOES NOT HAVE THE SPACE TO HOUSE OFFENDERS SEPRATELY. WITH THE ADDITION OF THE NEW FACILITY WE HOPE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. NO MATTER WERE YOU HOUSE THESE INMATES PROBLEMS WILL ARISE, ITS THE NATURE OF THE BEAST, IF THEY WERE MOVED TO SEPRATE CELL BLOCKS THEY WOULD FIND PEOPLE IN THOSE CELL BLOCKS TO DO THE SAME THING, GANG UP ON OTHER PEOPLE, HOWEVER, WITH THE COMPLETION OF THE NEW FACILITY WE HOPE TO CUT BACK ON THIS PROBLEM.

We should go back to an eye or an eye. If a thug steals, then chop off his arms. If they kill someone hang them in the streets for everyone to see.

I agree with an eye for an eye. Maybe they could just kill each other first and save us taxpayers a lot of money!

No hope for these punks. There is absolutely no chance of rehabilitating them and having them be part of society. It's really a shame but the reality is that it's needle time! Get them out of our misery. I don't want them on the street and I don't want to feed them for the next 60 years.

They guys need to be in my gang. The orginal chain gang. I am just over 50 years old and can remember this gang eating lunch under a big oak, wearing leg irons with guns on them. They cleaned ditches and cut weeds along raod ways. They were so tired at the end of the day they didn't have the energy to fight. As for the ones in for murder, they should be answering to St. Peter by now.

I am at your age and remember my parents telling me at 6-7 as we crossed the Carolina border on I95 to look for the chain gangs. Between NY and FLa. When I first got to Onslow in 86 I used to see them. I still love seeing the "bad boys" out on the state roads with the guards standing with the shotguns on hips.

Punks looking for an "easy" living. That's the problem with society now, nobody has any work ethic and everyone wants something for nothing. I was mowing grass and raking yards at 12 and got my workers permit at 15. Lock these punks up for a few years feeding them bare minimum for nutrition and no TV, Radio, A/C, and see how they like that.

Too much freedom in jail for these misfits! They go to jail for murder and still get a chance to kill someone else while they are in there! Jails are to easy!
