We have new information on a student charged with bringing a weapon to school on Friday in Pitt County.

Tyron Wynn, a 19-year-old senior at South Central High School in Winterville, was arrested Friday.

A school district spokeswoman says someone reported that Wynn had a knife on him during first period. They discovered a lock-blade knife on the student who apparently told authorities he had no ill intent in bringing the weapon to school.

The school system says Wynn is being disciplined under the student code of conduct.

He has a January 17 court date on the criminal charge.

I know Tyron and this isnt his character. He has too much talent and a good father. I have never known him to be violent and want to harm anyone. This is just a mistake on his part to take it on school property.

People judge other people all the time tyron. Juries pass judgement on people everyday. Judges pass judgement on criminals. I like to think of myself as a good judge of character for example, Judge and judgment are two different things. See the difference?

It's an unfortunate situation, but as the parent of a South Central student, I really wish the bond would be higher. When a weapon is present on campus, it puts the lives of many at risk.

Looked up images of a lock blade knife. They look pretty dangerous to me.

The weapon could have been a gun but likely it was not because a gun on campus would be a felony charge. The bond would have been set between at least 5,000 to 10,000 for felony possession of a gun on campus. The bond at 1,000 leads me to believe that it was probably not a gun.

Why are you saying that the 19 year old students don't need to still be in high school. My son will be 19 when he graduates, that is because his birthday is in November. So being 19 in high school does not mean anything

Hahaha. When I was 19 I was in my 2nd year of college and working evenings and weekends to pay for it. No time to get in trouble.

My daughters birthday is in October and she will be 18 when she graduates. So your son either failed a grade or you held him back a year before you sent him to school.
