Tarawa Terrace Residents Impacted By Tornado Assigned New Quarters

All 52 families living at the Tarawa Terrace housing at Camp Lejeune who were displaced in the aftermath of Saturday’s tornado have been assigned permanent quarters.

Thirty-one of those families have already been relocated. The remaining 21 families are scheduled to be placed in permanent quarters no later than May 3.

In all, 59 homes sustained significant damage or will require complete replacement. At this time, assessors have confirmed 28 of the 59 will need to be replaced. A total of 211 homes aboard Tarawa Terrace were impacted in varying degrees by this disaster.

Base officials also say the condition of the 23-month old dependent boy who was seriously injured during the tornado has been upgraded from critical to serious.
