Tar Heel beat North State 6-5 in the final game of the 11 and 12 year old District 4 Tournament in Greenville on Friday night to secure a spot in the State Tournament to be played later this month in Cherryville.
North State jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Colin Smith hit a three run home run over the right field fence.
Two innings later Tar Heel answered with a three-run Home run by Holton Ahlers that easily cleared the fence in left center field. Tar Heel never trailed after that in route to a 6-5 victory.
