TROOPERS: Driver Critically Injured After Falling Asleep

State troopers say a driver was critically injured after he fell asleep at the wheel this morning.

The crash happened just after 9:00 a.m. on Highway 11 near Odham Road, south of Grifton in Lenoir County.

The Highway Patrol says both the driver and a woman passenger were taken to Vidant Health Center. They say the passenger was in stable condition when she left the scene.

The four-door vehicle struck a ditch after it ran off the highway. So far names of the injured have not been released.

The reason we have so many wrecks in Lenoir County is that the Dumb Drivers Convention is having a Tent Revival Recruitment Driven at the Kinston Walmart. Vident healthcare is selling frequent flyer miles on their helicopter service. BYOB
