TRAFFIC ALERT: Northbound Lanes Of Evans Street Open

Evans Street near East 14th Street has re-opened after being closed for repairs to the railroad tracks.

The street re-opened around 9:40 p.m. Thursday night.

CSX closed the center lane and inside southbound lane around noon, to make emergency track repairs.

Emergency railroad track repair on a busy Greenville street will take longer than expected.

Greenville police have been told by CSX crews that Evans Street, near East 14th Street, will be closed into this evening.

The railroad closed the center lane and inside southbound lane around noon, expecting it to be blocked for approximately three hours.

Now, the railroad says both northbound lanes will be shut down so they can complete repair on the crossing. They are hoping the street can reopen by 7 or 8 p.m.
