High bacteria levels have prompted swimming advisories at two Carteret County locations just in time for the weekend.
State officials say the advisories are at Goose Creek at the end of Goose Creek Boulevard, and the public access on Deer Creek at the end of Bogue Sound Drive.
Tests taken Thursday showed both locations exceeded state and federal bacteria levels. Signs have been posted at the two locations, warning visitors that swimming is not recommended within 200 feet.
The two sites will be tested again to see when levels improve.
