Ferry Schedule Changes For Wednesday and Thursday

Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach route will shut down for a period of time Wednesday for ramp maintenance. The Swan Quarter-Ocracoke Ferry will run once Wednesday, but will not run at all Thursday.

The normal schedule will resume Wednesday afternoon for the Cherry Branch-Minnesott ferry, once the work is completed. Weather permitting, the route will shut down after the 12:15 p.m. departures and remain closed until 2:15 p.m. There will be no 1:15 p.m. or 1:45 departures from either side.

The changes in schedule for the Swan Quarter-Ocracoke route are to allow the ferry to move to Cedar Island where it will accommodate tour buses that have scheduled the trip months ago.

The schedule for Wednesday is as follows:
· Departing Cedar Island for Ocracoke at 7:30 a.m., 10 and 1 p.m.
· Departing Ocracoke for Cedar Island at 7:30 a.m., 10 and 4:30 p.m.
· Departing Swan Quarter for Ocracoke at 4:30 p.m.
· Departing Ocracoke for Swan Quarter at 12:45 p.m.

The schedule for Thursday is as follows:
· Departing Cedar Island for Ocracoke at 7:30 a.m., 10, 1 p.m. and 4:30
· Departing Ocracoke for Cedar Island at 7:30 a.m., 10, 1 p.m. and 4:30
· Cancellation of runs at Swan Quarter-Ocracoke

Previous Story:

The Swan Quarter-Ocracoke ferry will not be running Tuesday.

The Clerk of Court Sharon Sadler suggests that jurors for Superior Court take the Ocracoke-Hatteras ferry at 7 a.m. in order to report for jury duty at 11 a.m.

According to the DOT, the Swan Quarter-Ocracoke ferry run is not happening Tuesday because a boat is being moved to Cedar Island to accommodate traffic.

To proud Ocracoker! You are so right in everything you say about the wonderful life that is offered on Ocracoke. I wish I was a resident there. I visit as often as I can, and I have friends there. I love Ocracoke Island and the people who live there. Keep up the great work of protecting this great place.

Court should be postponed due to this. I wouldn't do all that driving .Arrangements could be made to get them from The Island to the mainland.

There are residents and visitors that are here on the island. The businesses and residents appreciate and care about our vistors everyday. Thanks for caring, all the residents that needed to be on jury duty had to leave the island for the Hatteras ferry for a 4 hour trip one way to serve on the jury. I could just imagine how you would take that if you had that drive, seeing how you are such a caring person. not...

Yeah, in many ways you are correct about Nothing in Ocracoke... No car jackings, no car thefts, no kids being bullied, no rapes in school, no shoot outs, No gang violence-no gangs, no home invasions, no murders, no racial tension, no lost dogs, no fast food joints...poor us! We do have an aware, caring and loving community, we do watch over our elderly residents, we do watch over all our children, we do watch over and protect our ocean, beaches and our natural resources, we do help anyone that is in need, quietly and anonymously. You need to get out of Pitt County for the first time in your twisted life. There is a world out here you have to live to believe...its a pity you wouldn't be able to see it

Who said I was from Pitt county. You know what they say about those who assume. True you don't have the problems that many places have but, you also don't have a quality hospital, dentist, vet, eye doctor, movie theaters, college or professional sports teams, car dealer...see where this is going. There is no substitute for living in a place that offers all the amenities of modern life.

Just as I stated, you would not be able to see or understand or fit into our life out here. Different strokes for different folks, no problem. True, we do not have many of the services you think you need, but they are available. I've lived in your version of modern life and you can keep it.

Why please? Why are your stories so lacking in information?
