NEW INFO: Police Holding Autopsy Info On Suspicious Death

Authorities say the autopsy on a 43-year-old man who was found dead yesterday in New Bern's historic district is complete. But results of that autopsy are not being released.

Friends found the body of Jeffery Smith just before 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at his Middle Street apartment. Police said they were treating the dead as suspicious.

New Bern police say the district attorney asked them not to release any information on the autopsy at this point. Lt. Linda Godette says there is still an active crime scene at the house and that they hope to release additional information tomorrow morning.
