NEW INFO: Attempted Murder Suspect Now Behind Bars

A man wanted for trying to kill another man on Tuesday has turned himself in.

Lawmen in Halifax County had been looking for Jonah Powell on attempted murder charges.

The 18-year-old is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Deputies say Powell and two others shot a man in a home on Brigman St. in Roanoke Rapids Tuesday.

Troy Herring, 18, and a 15-year-old had already been charged with attempted murder. The 15 year old is in custody of the juvenile system in Greenville. All three suspects are from Roanoke Rapids.

There is no word on how the victim is doing.

    Another youth wasted. I wish I knew what to do about our youth. Violence is glorified and most don't have strong parental or religious figures in there life to help them make good decisions. Most have little to no impulse control that would stop them from making life changing decisions in the spur of the moment... It's just sad that he will more than likely be in prison for the "prime" of his life then he will get out and be lost.
