Suspect Arrested In Series of Robberies Targeting Greenville Hispanic Community

Greenville police say a suspect has been arrested in a series of robberies targeting the Hispanic community.

Police say In each of the cases a Hispanic male approached other Hispanic individuals in or around department stores under the pretense of selling electronics at a reduced price.

During the money exchange, the suspect either ran off with the money or threatened the victim by gesturing as though he had a weapon.

Police arrested Jose Luis Olivares-Hernandez, of Vera Cruz, Mexico, and charged him with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and common law robbery.

Hernandez is currently in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $1,395,000.00 secured bond.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending. Anyone who may have been a victim of a similar crime is encouraged to call the Greenville Police Department (252) 329- 4300.
