A whiteout or super fog event, is not expected near the wildfire in Dare County, after super fog closed down highway 264 for 4 hours Tuesday morning.

Super fog is formed when smoke mixes with fog.

Smoke analyst for the Pains Bay Wildfire Gary Curcio says weather conditions are not favorable for the formation of another super fog event along highway 264 and 64, and visibility is expected to improve rapidly in the early morning hours.

Smoke is expected for drivers on highways 264 and 64. Moderate wind speeds through sunrise Wednesday should maintain acceptable but reduced visibility on roads. Driving with caution is recommended.
