A cold front was pushing off the North Carolina coast Thursday night taking the clouds and showers with it. Rain was ending along the coast late in the evening and temperatures were falling into the lower to middle 50s as the front swept offshore. Skies will clear early Friday with plenty of sunshine expected during the day. Cooler temperatures will be felt as gusty winds blow from the west. Highs will top out in the middle to upper 50s. It will dip to around freezing Friday night before a slight warm-up over the weekend. Afternoon highs both Saturday an Sunday will be in the middle 60s under sunny skies.
