A cool front will push through eastern North Carolina Wednesday night finally ending the extreme heat across the area. The front may bring a few thunderstorms as it crosses the area but most locations will remain dry. Slightly cooler and drier air will follow the front on Thursday. Highs will be in the middle to upper 80s along with lots of afternoon sunshine. Pleasant weather conditions are expected to last through the weekend.
