Cold air will remain entrenched across eastern North Carolina into Thursday. High pressure across the Midwest will settle into the Carolinas by Thursday giving us sunny skies and light winds. Highs will reach the lower 40s during the afternoon. The high will move offshore by Friday causing winds to shift to the south and southwest, ushering in warmer temperatures. We should reach 50 degrees Friday and highs will hit the 50s to lower 60s over the weekend. Showers could return by late Saturday or Sunday.
