High pressure that brought cold air to eastern North Carolina Tuesday night moved offshore Wednesday afternoon. The return flow around the high has shifted winds to a more southerly direction. The southerly winds will bring much warmer air into the area starting tonight. Lows will bottom out in the lower to middle 40s then rebound quickly into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees Thursday afternoon. Most locations away from the coast should hit the middle 70s Friday afternoon. Both days will feature plenty of sunshine.
