A cold front swept clouds and showers off the North Carolina coast late Wednesday. Drier and somewhat cooler air has followed the front. It will give us a chilly night as lows dip into the lower 40s. Warmer air will gradually filter into the area by Thursday afternoon as highs reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. Even warmer air will arrive Friday as highs hit the upper 70s to lower 80s well inland and lower 70s on the beaches. The warm temperatures will last into Saturday before cooler air following a cold front arrives Saturday night and Sunday. Little or no rain is expected through the weekend.
