Funerals for a high school senior and his brother who were killed while on their way to graduation have been set.
Deonta Whitaker and his 24-year-old brother, Anthony, were killed Saturday on Republican Road. Troopers say the older brother was driving the car and that excessive speed was a factor.
The funerals will be held this coming Saturday at Bertie High School, the same high school where the two were headed this past weekend. The service begins at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation for the brothers will be Friday afternoon, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hunter's Funeral Home in Ahoskie.
The two will be buried in Roxobel.

The Highway Patrol says 17-year-old Deonta Whitaker of Lewiston was riding with 24-year-old Anthony Whitaker on the way to the Deonta's graduation at Bertie High School when Troopers say Anthony lost control of the vehicle and crashed on Republican Road near Cow Track Road.
Both died in the crash.
Troopers say excessive speed is a factor in the crash.
