A high school student found out Friday morning that if he wanted to get out of jail that would come with some pretty strict guidelines.

Frederick Thomas of Havelock was arrested Thursday morning for making two bomb threats at Havelock High School. The first was Tuesday morning, and the second was Thursday.

The 18-year-old is being held on a $75,000 bond.

During his first court appearance, a district judge added some tough conditions if the teen is able to post that bond.

At the request of the District Attorney's Office, if released on bond Thomas could not go on the high school campus, or any other property of the Craven County school system at any time.

He also must live with his parents and abide by a curfew from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each day. The teen would have to wear a GPS-based ankle bracelet, and he is not allowed to possess any telephone, except to make true emergency calls or to comply with his Electronic Offender Monitoring Program.

Thomas must also provide both fingerprints and a DNA sample to law enforcement.

The teen's next court date is on January 30th.

Previous Story

A Havelock High School student has been charged with making two bomb threats that interrupted school this week.

Frederick Thomas of Havelock was arrested this morning after the second threat was made.

Police say the 18 year old was a person of interest in today's bomb threat after leads developed from Tuesday's threat.

With the help of the school resource officer, investigators were able to find the cell phone used in both cases. Thomas was then identified being in possession of that phone.

Thomas has been charged with two counts of making a false bomb report/public building. He was jailed on a $75,000 secured bond.

In Tuesday's threat, it happened during extreme cold weather and forced the school to dismiss early. No one was injured in either case.
