Strong winds knocked out power in Oak City in Martin County Wednesday night.
Martin County Emergency Management director Mike Stalls says about 7:30 p.m. a shed behind a home near Highway 111 and Edmonson Road was damaged by winds 45-50 miles an hour. He says a piece of the tin roof wrapped around a power line, grounded, and apparently knocked out power to a substation. No one was hurt.
Stalls says the shed had previously been damaged in Hurricane Irene and that National Weather Service officials do not believe it was a tornado.
